Known for their flavour-packed crisps and nostalgic British favourites, Walkers was preparing to bring back a classic, the much-loved Worcester Sauce flavour. To mark the occasion in a bold and attention-grabbing way, they reached out to the Megaflatables team, trusting us to create something truly unforgettable using our expertise in giant inflatables and inflatable advertising.
With shared goals of fun, creativity, and nationwide visibility, the campaign was set to make waves, quite literally!
All Hands On Deck
To generate maximum buzz for the relaunch of Walkers Worcester Sauce crisps, we were commissioned to design and build a six-metre tall inflatable product replica of the iconic crisp packet. But this wasn’t just any display, the inflatable was to be the centrepiece of a unique and eye-catching stunt. The crisp packet would float majestically down the River Severn, through the city of Worcester; the namesake of the flavour itself. The stunt was designed to be playful, newsworthy, and social-media friendly, helping to reintroduce the flavour with flair while reinforcing its strong connection to Worcester.
As specialists in custom inflatables, we understood the importance of visual impact and brand precision. From the outset, our goal was to deliver a spectacular giant inflatable that stayed true to Walkers’ well-known packaging design and could safely navigate a public river space. The entire campaign was rooted in creative storytelling, using inflatable advertising to physically bring the product back into the public’s view in a striking and memorable way.
Battening Down The Hatches
Creating a supersized version of a crisp packet might sound like fun, and it was, but it also presented a number of technical and logistical challenges. One of the most critical aspects of the project was accuracy. The Walkers branding is iconic, so every design detail had to be replicated with precision. Our team ensured the custom inflatable crisp packet reflected the true colours, typography, and shape of the original product, just on a much larger scale
Structural integrity was another major concern. At six metres tall, the inflatable had to remain upright and secure while floating down a real river. This required careful material selection and expert planning to ensure buoyancy and stability in an uncontrolled outdoor environment. We also had to manage detailed logistics, including transportation, safe inflation on-site, and working closely with local authorities to ensure public safety. Every phase had to be perfectly choreographed by our experienced events team to deliver the seamless spectacle that Walkers and their fans were expecting.
Setting Sail
The result was an extraordinary success. The giant inflatable crisp packet glided down the River Severn with ease, becoming an instant talking point in Worcester and far beyond. Onlookers stopped to take photos and videos, news outlets quickly picked up the story, and social media buzzed with excitement. Fans of Walkers were thrilled to see the Worcester Sauce flavour return, and the inflatable creation made the moment feel even more special.
