Designing and Building an 11 Metre Giant Football
At the centre of the activation was an enormous replica of the new PUMA Orbita Ultimate match ball, measuring an incredible 11 metres in diameter. This was not just about size. Accuracy, finish and brand fidelity were essential, with every panel, colour and detail carefully matched to the official Premier League ball design.
Our manufacturing team engineered the sports inflatable using durable, high performance materials suited to both water and weather exposure. Structural integrity was critical, as the football needed to maintain its form and visual impact while being transported along the river and manoeuvred into position beneath Tower Bridge.
This was a true product replica at an extraordinary scale, designed to be instantly recognisable from every angle, whether viewed from the riverbanks, bridges or media helicopters above.
Navigating One of London’s Most Challenging Installations
Beyond the build itself, the logistics of this activation were just as complex. Our events and installation teams managed the entire process, from initial planning and risk assessments through to live execution on the Thames.
The inflatable football was securely mounted on a floating platform and transported eight miles along the river. Timing, tide conditions and coordination with river authorities were all critical factors. Every movement had to be carefully planned to ensure safety, precision and minimal disruption while still delivering maximum impact.
The defining moment came as the giant ball passed through Tower Bridge, symbolically scoring the Biggest Goal and delivering a visual moment that quickly travelled across news outlets and social platforms worldwide.
