How Megaflatables Created the Giant Fantastic Four Blimp for the London Film Premiere

An iconic inflatable branding activation for Marvel Studios’ UK fan event at the BFI IMAX

As the UK’s leading inflatable branding specialists, Megaflatables was commissioned to design and produce a completely custom inflatable blimp for the Fantastic Four: First Steps UK fan event and film premiere in London.

The brief was clear: create a large-scale, visually striking helium blimp that not only captured the bold branding of Marvel’s First Family, but also seamlessly aligned with the event’s unique visual identity.

As with all of Megaflatables’ bespoke inflatable projects, our in-house design team got to work immediately—ensuring that every element of the blimp was on-brand, down to the finest detail. This included:

• Pantone-matched colour accuracy, to stay true to the official Marvel Studios style guide
• Logo precision, ensuring the Fantastic Four “4” emblem was displayed boldly and clearly from all angles
• Retro-futuristic design features, echoing the film’s 1960s-inspired art direction and overall aesthetic
• Construction using durable, weather-resistant materials, specially selected for long-lasting performance in outdoor, high-traffic environments

The result was a 6-metre helium-filled blimp that floated proudly above the BFI IMAX, perfectly complementing the immersive, cinematic world being brought to life below. From conception to completion, every step was taken with precision, safety, and brand visibility in mind.

About the Fantastic Four: First Steps London Fan Event

Held on 10 July 2025, the UK fan event for The Fantastic Four: First Steps took over the BFI IMAX at Southbank with a full-scale premiere experience, including:

• A retro-themed blue carpet with immersive 1960s-inspired set pieces
• Appearances by the full cast: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss‑Bachrach
• A live orchestral suite by Michael Giacchino, performed in Hyde Park by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra
• The debut of Marvel’s newest take on their First Family, set in a bold, alternate retro-future universe

Our inflatable blimp tied the entire event together—adding vertical scale and visual cohesion from the ground to the sky.

Event Management & On-Site Installation at BFI IMAX, London

Our role extended far beyond design and production. Megaflatables provided full end-to-end event support, ensuring the smooth deployment of the 6-metre helium-filled blimp at one of the UK’s most iconic venues: the BFI IMAX in London’s Southbank.

From the moment we were commissioned, our experienced and knowledgeable events team began planning and coordinating all aspects of the installation to ensure everything ran to schedule and met all required safety standards.

• Transport and delivery to the venue with all rigging equipment and support infrastructure

• Safe decommissioning and takedown of the inflatable after the event, followed by transport and secure storage of the blimp at our dedicated warehouse facility
