02 May On Your Marks, Get Set For These Upcoming UK Marathons This Summer
With the weather improving and ample more opportunities to get outside and enjoy the sunshine, summer is finally upon us. With longer days ahead, there’s no time like the present to get out and stay active as much as possible, with plenty of upcoming events to look forward to. If you are a keen runner, or even if you like to watch from a safe distance, you may have one eye on the many upcoming UK marathons that can finally go ahead after the unprecedented events of the last year.
Here at Megaflatables, we are especially excited to help event organisers bring people together again and create events that look great and people enjoy. Here’s some of the upcoming UK marathons and races to look out for and get involved with this summer.
Cheltenham Running Festival – 13 June
Set within the grounds of Cheltenham racecourse where many jockeys have ridden to victory, the festival will incorporate 3 events including a half marathon, 5k and 10k. Each race is on a looped circuit so it’s a great opportunity for spectators such as family and friends to watch and cheer on participants from the stands which could potentially hold up to 65,000 people. More information here.
Mid Summer Jumble – 4 July
Set in the stunning surrounds of Roche Abbey, you can enjoy this upcoming UK marathon that culminates with a post-race BBQ as added motivation. There are both half and full marathons as well as 10k, 20 miles and ultra events for those looking for a challenge. There is varied terrain to provide something different for runners to enjoy and take in the scenery as they go. More information here.
Hey Up It’s Helmsley – 11 July
Taking place at Duncombe Park in York, this event will offer 5 races through the glorious grounds of the park. The looped races are around a 6.2 mile lapped course that takes runners through Helmsley and onto the Transpennine Trail, offering a definite challenge for those who want one. 10k, 20 miles, 5k, half, full and an ultra marathon are all scheduled for what should be a stunning day. More information here.
Gloucester Marathon, Half Marathon & 50k – 01 Aug
The Gloucester Marathon is an event within the scenic parish views of Haresfield and Colethrop Village, offering a mainly flat gradient throughout as well as being traffic-free. With a 50k Ultra, half marathon and full marathon taking runners around the beautiful surroundings, it offers a challenge for any ability.
Running Grand Prix – 08 Aug
With locations across the UK, the Oulton Park event is part of the Running Grand Prix where you can get involved with a variety of distances depending on your preference. From 5k to 18k, half marathons to full, there is something for all running abilities and takes place along the famous superbike race track. The track itself is a 5k distance, so laps will be needed to complete the longer events in this unique setting. More information here.
This is just a handful of upcoming UK marathons and races to get ready for across what will hopefully be an action-packed calendar for running enthusiasts. We’ve helped many events like those listed above create custom-made inflatables that help enhance and promote their cause. Megaflatables partnered with Global Radio’s Make Some Noise event where we supplied Heart Radio with an inflatable arch, as well as bespoke designs created for MoonWalk Scotland to help participants cross the line in style.
