Project Overview
Megaflatables transformed Jason Wilsher-Mills’ vibrant digital artwork into giant inflatable sculptures for exhibitions across the UK. The collaboration translated the artist’s bold, colourful style into three-dimensional, touring-ready installations.
Award-winning digital artist and disability activist Jason Wilsher-Mills needed his vibrant, highly detailed iPad-created artworks translated into giant three-dimensional inflatable sculptures for exhibitions and public spaces across the UK, from the Commonwealth Games to Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The brief was to preserve the richness, intricate patterns and bright colour of his original 2D designs at large scale, while engineering many pieces to be walk-through, walk-under or interactive, structurally safe, durable indoors and out, and accessible to people of all abilities.
Megaflatables provided a complete, turnkey service across every stage of the project.
We translated Jason’s intricate 2D digital artworks into giant 3D inflatable sculptures, ensuring his patterns and vivid colour palette stayed faithful at scale.
Using high-quality materials and high-resolution printing, we produced giant inflatable sculptures with crisp detail and accurate reproduction of Jason’s vivid artwork.
Our team managed the full project lifecycle, coordinating design, production and installation across multiple UK exhibitions to ensure everything ran smoothly.
We delivered and installed the inflatable sculptures on-site, creating safe and impactful displays across UK exhibition spaces.
The installation transformed each exhibition into a bold, immersive space. The giant inflatable sculptures brought energy and colour into the galleries and public spaces, but more importantly, they had that instant “wow” factor. Inflatables just work for this, they’re big, unexpected, and hard to ignore. People notice them straight away, and more importantly, they remember them. They also photograph really well. The scale, colour, and soft forms make them perfect for social content, so people naturally stop, take photos, and share them without being asked. It turns the space into something more than just a display, it becomes part of the experience. As a result:
The installation picked up strong organic traction on social media
Visitors were keen to share photos and videos
The exhibition spaces became an easy, natural backdrop for content
The reach of the installation went far beyond the exhibitions themselves
