Project Overview
Megaflatables was commissioned to collaborate with Artist Sebastian Comănescu to create a bespoke large-scale inflatable artwork for exhibition at Romanian Creative Week. The project involved transforming a digital concept into a Giant piece of inflatable Artwork. The Piece of artwork consisted of a range of inflatables ranging from 6, 5 ,& 2.5 Metres High.
The installation formed part of the festival’s contemporary art programme, creating an engaging visual experience that invited visitors to explore the relationship between technology, design, and physical space.
Sebastian approached Megaflatables with a highly detailed artistic concept that required specialist inflatable manufacturing expertise to bring to life. The challenge was to faithfully translate the artist’s vision into a large-scale inflatable structure while preserving the original form, proportions, and visual impact of the design.
The artwork needed to be visually striking, structurally sound, easy to install, and suitable for display within a public exhibition environment. Every aspect of the inflatable’s appearance was important, requiring close collaboration between artist and Megaflatables throughout the development process.
Here at Megaflatables we are experts in bringing Artists visions to life.
Working alongside Sebastian, our design team transformed his concept into realistic visualisations, helping shape the inflatable artwork before it entered production.
Following design approval, our team moved into production, applying specialist inflatable engineering techniques to ensure the structure inflated correctly, maintained its form, and met all performance requirements.
The completed inflatable artworks were successfully exhibited at Romanian Creative Week, where they became a standout feature within the event programme. The installation comprised three bespoke inflatable sculptures standing 6 metres, 5 metres, and 2.5 metres tall, each carefully manufactured to capture the scale, detail, and visual impact envisioned by the artist while demonstrating the versatility of inflatable fabrication as a medium for contemporary art.
The project highlights how creative collaboration between artists and specialist fabricators can transform ambitious concepts into immersive public experiences. By combining artistic vision with engineering expertise, Megaflatables helped bring Sebastian Comănescu’s concept from digital model to full-scale reality.
The result was a striking collection of inflatable artworks that engaged audiences, enhanced the festival environment, and showcased the potential of inflatable structures as a platform for artistic expression.
The large scale and vibrant colours made the inflatables a standout feature at Romanian Creative Week. Their striking appearance attracted attention and created a strong visual presence throughout the event.
The installation became a popular photo opportunity for visitors. Many attendees shared images across social media, helping to increase visibility for both the artwork and the festival.
Compared to traditional sculptures, the inflatables were quick to install and simple to deploy. This reduced setup time and provided a cost-effective way to create large-scale public art.
