NHS Badge Inflatable at London Pride 2019

On 6th July 2019 one of our teams attended the London Pride Parade. This is one of our favourite parades that we love to get involved with! The atmosphere is amazing, everyone is laughing, dancing and having a great time! This year was the biggest yet with over 30,000 people marching through the streets of London to celebrate. The 2019 parade was pegged as the biggest and the most inclusive and diverse yet. Megaflatables are proud to have played our part in such a fantastic celebration.

The parade set off from Portland Place at 12pm, moving down Oxford Circus, along Regent Street to Piccadilly Circus, Lower Regent Street, Pall Mall and then passing Trafalgar Square before finishing on Whitehall.

This year we worked with Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital to make a giant parade inflatable NHS Pride Rainbow Badge.

The Rainbow NHS pride badge scheme was originated at Evelina London Children’s Hospital to make positive change by promoting a message of inclusion. As many as 150,000 doctors, nurses, cleaners, surgeons, midwives and other health service staff are taking up a new Rainbow Badge initiative which gives staff the opportunity to show their support for LGBT+ patients and staff.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital are among the forerunners within their community, promoting the NHS pride initiative by sporting the rainbow badges on their uniforms and proudly taking part in community events such as pride 2019. The initiative has now been adopted by half the NHS trusts. To the hospital, the badge represents more than just their fantastic LGBT+ community, but also their recognition of all identities and their openness.

The giant NHS Rainbow Badge inflatable replica was a great success in the parade and got so much attention, for a fantastic cause. The NHS Pride inflatable is a giant replica of the badges all participating staff wear and was used to stimulate progressive conversations and to let as many people as possible know that everyone is welcome at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital – What a better way to call attention to such a fantastic cause than with a giant inflatable?

It was a pleasure to work with such a wonderful organisation for an amazing cause!

We are next at the Brighton Pride Parade on 3rd August 2019 with more giant, rainbow inflatables!

Will we see you there?
