Our Fourth Year Raising Money For Great Ormand Street Hospital

For a fourth year the team here at Megaflatables are raising money for Great Ormand Street Hospital, who receive more than 237,000 outpatient visits and 43,000 inpatient visits each year.

As the largest paediatric centre in the United Kingdom and one of the biggest heart transplant centres for children in the world, we want to recognise the work and care of each of the staff at Great Ormand Street Hospital by raising money to help support their incredible efforts.

Over the weekend, specifically on Saturday 14th December and Sunday 15th December between 9am to 5pm, we will be selling Christmas Tree’s to raise money for this wonderful charity, with all profits being sent directly to GOSH.

With more than 200 amazing Christmas trees to choose from, ranging between 5ft to 8ft in height, you are bound to find one suitable for your living room!

Visit us at The Sunflower Patch, Writtle, CM1 3RU on Saturday 14th December and Sunday 15th December between 9am to 5pm to purchase your Christmas Tree.

Great Ormand Street Hospital is a charity that is very close to us here at Megaflatables. John Spence, Managing Director of the business, said:

“My son has been under Great Ormand Street Hospital since he was born with a rare heart condition called truncus arteriosus, meaning that he only has a single blood vessel coming out of the right and left ventricles, instead of two vessels.

He undertook his fourth open-heart surgery with the team at Great Ormand Street Hospital this year and, whilst truncus arteriosus is an ongoing condition and he will require additional surgery in the future, we are incredibly grateful for everything GOSH has done over the past 18 years we have known them.

We have already helped a number of a number of campaigns, including the creation of Bernard the Inflatable Bear and, whilst we continue to raise more and more funds for this fantastic children’s charity, we have decided to be a little more specific with this year’s donation.”

When a child undertakes a lengthy operation at Great Ormand Street Hospital, the hospital, where possible, will house the parents. This is especially true if the parents are unable to stay with their child in hospital, such as within the Intensive Care unit.

Whilst Great Ormand Street Hospital do already own a number of houses, their availability is limited and, as you can appreciate, the scheme can cost up to hundreds of thousands of pounds to run. The idea behind the Never Far Away campaign is to encourage parents to stay within a close proximity to the hospital rather than commute in each day at often stressful times.

Each county has a fundraising wing for Great Ormand Street Hospital, so this year we’re donating the £3,000 that we raise to Essex.

We have already raised an amazing £8,000 so far and have committed to donate a further £3,000 to Great Ormand Street Hospital!

Thank you from everybody at Megaflatables for your support!
